TINTO Colombian Coffee recipe

“Tinto” is a small cup of black coffee similar to espresso. It is associated with stopping work or gathering together with friends for a short break.  Tinto recipes vary across all of Colombia.  This is how my mother prepares tinto:

  • Boil water
  • Add one or two spoons of coffee.
  • Boil for 3-5 minutes.
  • Let the grounds settle and pour off the coffee.
  • Add 1 or 2 tiny spoon of brown sugar to desired sweetness.
  • Enjoy the sweeter and lighter taste of the best colombian coffee.
